Al-Baqir Zain-ul-Taban Abdul Kalam, born 15 October 1931, was an Indian scientist-astronaut and the 11th President of India. He was the President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was named Champion of Rocketry of India for his work and development of ballistic missiles and missile technology.

Dr. Abdul Kalma: Early Life
Abdul Kalam, also known as the president, was born on October 15, 1931 in a Tamil Muslim family in Ramsavar, Bumban Island, and later to the post of President of Madras, and now in Tamil Nadu. His father, Jaynalaudbin Maragayer, was the owner of the boat and his local mosques and housewives. Abdul Kalam was the youngest of four brothers and one sister in his family. During his studies, Abdul Kalam was an average student, but was considered hardworking and persistent. After completing his education at Schwartz High School, he went to St. Joseph’s College, Trichy. In 1954, he graduated in physics. In 1955, he moved to Madras to study aerospace engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology.

Dr. E.P.J. Abdul Kalam was appointed Managing Director of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP). This program was implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
He played an important role in the development of nuclear power in India after the Pokhran II nuclear test.
APJ Abdul Kalam also contributed to the field of Indian medicine. He and his team made lightweight prostheses out of space-age materials so that children with physical disabilities could walk. APJ Abdul Kalam received 7 honorary doctorates from 40 universities.
He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1981 and Padma Vibhushan in 1990 by the Government of India for his contributions and work at ISRO and DRDO. In 1997, Kalam was awarded the Bharat Ratna for his contribution to scientific research and modernization of defense technology.
